insulation is in the 2 x 6 walls

johns mansville spider formaldehyde free blow-in loose-fill fiber glass insulation is in the 2 x 6 walls. it’s beautiful!

first netting is stapled to the studs. then holes are poked into the netting. the insulation is blown into the wall cavities between the studs through a hose, which is similar in appearance to the hoses on vacuum cleaners.

entellis

2014 01 14 here’s some information on a nearby project:

entellis collaborative’s baltimore green for everyone project is comprised of nine houses; seven single family and two duplexes – built to be high performance, low-energy and universal access rental units owned by the city of baltimore.

one of the duplexes was modeled to meet passive house and will be certified by the passive house institute us.  all of the homes were designed and built with the same assemblies and systems used in the passive house certified duplex.

all nine homes were built to perform at passive house levels of performance at no additional cost compared to code-built homes executed for the city under the same request for proposals.
